How to: Open and sign a church policy

Summary

Church policies appear on Volunteer Home under Your policy acknowledgement. Each policy card includes Open policy and Sign, along with a status message that confirms whether you have signed.

What you’ll need

Before you begin, make sure you have:

A Volunteer account in Safe Pathways
Access to the Home page in your Volunteer dashboard
At least one policy showing under Your policy acknowledgement

If you do not see any policies in this section, your church may not have any active policies at this time.

Before you start

Safe Pathways may require you to review and acknowledge church policies as part of your screening process.

Policies appear on the Home page under Your policy acknowledgement.

Each policy card includes:

Open policy to view the document
Sign to complete your acknowledgement
a status message confirming whether you have already signed

Steps to open and sign a church policy

1. Open the Home page

In the left-side menu, click Home.

2. Scroll to Your policy acknowledgement

On the Home page, scroll to the Your policy acknowledgement section.

3. Find the policy you need to review

Locate the policy card you need to open and sign.

4. Open the policy

Click Open policy to read the document.

5. Review and acknowledge any required policy questions

If your church has added acknowledgement questions, review each one and check the required boxes before signing.

These questions are part of the policy acknowledgement process and must be completed before you can finish signing.

6. Sign the policy acknowledgement

After reviewing the policy and completing any required acknowledgement questions, click Sign.

7. Confirm the policy was signed

Check that the policy card message changes to:

You have signed the acknowledgement for this document.

What happens next

After signing the policy, return to Home and continue any remaining pathways or reference tasks.

If you are still not cleared, expand Your church staff tasks to review any staff-managed items that may still be pending.

Troubleshooting

I do not see Your policy acknowledgement

- Your church may not have any active policies right now.
- If you believe you should have one assigned, contact your church administrator.

The Sign button is missing or not working

- Refresh the page and try again.
- If the issue continues, contact your church administrator or Safe Pathways support.

The policy opens but is difficult to read

- Try opening Safe Pathways in a different browser or on another device.
