Opening and signing a church policy

Summary

Church policies appear on your My requirements page under Church policies. Each policy card lets you open the policy and then sign it, along with a status that confirms when your acknowledgement is complete. You must open the policy before you can sign it.

Who this is for

Volunteers

What you'll need

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • A volunteer account in Safe Pathways
  • At least one policy showing under Church policies on your My requirements page
  • If you do not see any policies, your church may not have any active policies at this time.

Before you start

Safe Pathways may require you to review and acknowledge church policies as part of your screening process.

Each policy card includes:

  • An option to open and read the policy document
  • A sign option that unlocks after you have opened the policy
  • A status confirming whether you have already signed
  • Steps to open and sign a church policy

1. Open My requirements

In the left-side menu, click My requirements.

2. Find the Church policies section

Scroll to the Church policies section.

3. Open the policy

Select the policy and open the document. Reading it first is required: the sign option stays locked until you have opened the policy.

4. Review and answer any acknowledgement questions

If your church has added acknowledgement questions, review each one and check the required boxes before signing. These are part of the acknowledgement and must be completed before you can finish.

5. Sign the policy acknowledgement

After reviewing the policy and completing any required questions, sign the acknowledgement.

6. Confirm the policy was signed

Check that the policy card now confirms your acknowledgement is complete.

What happens next

After signing, check your Overview page: Your safeguarding checklist updates, and you can continue with any remaining training or reference tasks from there.

Troubleshooting

I do not see Church policies

Your church may not have any active policies right now. If you believe you should have one assigned, contact your church administrator.

The sign option is locked or not working

Open the policy document first, signing unlocks after the policy has been opened. If it still will not unlock, refresh the page. If the issue continues, contact your church administrator or Safe Pathways support.

The policy opens but is difficult to read

Try opening Safe Pathways in a different browser or on another device.

Notes

Church policies appear under Church policies on the My requirements page.

The sign option unlocks only after you open the policy.

After signing, the card confirms that your acknowledgement is complete.
