What is Safe Pathways?

Summary

Safe Pathways is the all-in-one safeguarding platform built for Canadian churches. The idea fits in three words: protection you can prove. Training, screening, policies, and records live in one place, so keeping children and vulnerable adults safe is something your church does every week, not something written in a binder.

Who this is for

  • Volunteers who just received an invitation and want to know what this is
  • Church Administrators and leaders introducing Safe Pathways to their teams
  • Anyone curious about what the platform actually does

What you’ll need

Make sure you have:

  • Nothing at all. This article is just the tour.

Before you start

A bit of honesty about why Safe Pathways exists. Churches have always known what safeguarding requires: the training, the policies, the police checks. Knowledge was never the gap; implementation was. References went unchased, training dragged on for hours, and policies sat in filing cabinets. Safe Pathways closes that gap by making each piece short, automatic, and recorded.

What this covers

Training that fits real life

Volunteers complete a learning pathway matched to their role: babies and toddlers, children, youth, vulnerable adults, or comprehensive. Each pathway is short videos with quick quizzes, finished in under 20 minutes, on any device. Get a question wrong and the platform points you back to the exact part of the video that covers it. Group learners are covered too, with Watch Party sessions for training a room together.

Screening you can see

Two references are collected automatically by email, Police Checks are ordered through Canpro SOS and tracked inside the platform, and every volunteer’s screening status is visible at a glance. When everything checks out, a volunteer becomes an Authorized Adult, and that status is recalculated automatically as records change.

Policies your church owns

Your church uploads its safeguarding policy, volunteers read and sign it digitally, and every acknowledgement is logged with a timestamp and version. Your policies stay yours to edit and keep.

The Audit Report

When your insurer, board, or a difficult situation asks “can you show me?”, the Audit Report compiles the time-stamped record (training, screening, acknowledgements, notes) into one export in minutes. This is the “prove” in protection you can prove.

Automation underneath it all

Reminders go out before training or Police Checks expire. Reference requests send themselves. Renewals are assigned automatically. The system never depends on one person remembering to follow up.

What happens next

If you’re a volunteer holding an invitation email, start with Logging in for the first time. Most volunteers finish their first pathway the same day, often before their coffee cools.

If you’re an administrator, Getting Started: Your Admin Dashboard walks you through your first visit, and the Getting started section of this knowledge base covers everything from importing volunteers to assigning pathways.

Troubleshooting

I’m a volunteer and I’m not sure what my church wants me to do

  • Sign in and look at your Home page. Everything assigned to you (training, policy, references) is listed there with a button beside it.
  • When in doubt, your church administrator knows which pathway you should be on.

Is this software going to take hours of my time?

  • No. Most pathways take under 20 minutes, and the intro pathway about 10.

Who do I talk to about pricing or signing up our church?

  • Visit safepathways.com to book a demo, or explore the pricing calculator there. Support articles cover the platform itself.

Notes

  • Safe Pathways is built for Canadian churches: Canadian-hosted data, PIPEDA compliant, and Police Checks across all 13 provinces and territories.
  • Training pathways take under 20 minutes and match each volunteer’s role.
  • Screening, policies, and training roll up to one status: Authorized Adult.
  • The Audit Report turns your records into documentation you can stand on, in minutes.
  • Automation handles the reminders and follow-ups, so nothing depends on memory.
